Trails Utah seeks a part-time Development Director to join the team building The Greatest Trails on Earth™!

Job Summary

Trails Utah is seeking a part time (independent contractor) Development Director (25 hours per week) who, in partnership with the Executive Director, can strategize, spearhead and carry out fundraising and development programs and activities in a cost effective and timely manner.

This new Development Director will have the opportunity to creatively craft the structure and function of Trails Utah’s annual fundraising plan and contribute to the growth of this young organization.

General

  •     Develop and execute Trails Utah’s annual fundraising plan with a thorough understanding of annual budget
  •     Oversee and manage all fundraising efforts
  •     Build strong and successful relationships with donors, foundations, and granting entities
  •     Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, board and donors
  •     Ensure timely and accurate reports on fundraising results to board, staff, donors and funders
  •     Work with staff on planning and management of fundraising events
  •     Develop marketing materials for fundraising efforts together with Marketing & Communications Director
  •     Work to accrue good working knowledge of Trails Utah projects, mission, and ethics that guide our work and be able to communicate about them to others
  •     Help grow Trails Utah to a more sustainable level that can better compensate employees and ongoing organizational programs

 

Grant Writing

  •     Research and identify grants and foundations appropriate to Trails Utah’s projects and mission to supplement/leverage existing grant sources
  •     Work with staff to develop an annual grant schedule
  •     Oversee, manage, and track annual grant commitments and respond in a timely manner to meet reporting requirements
  •     Work with staff and board to plan for organizational growth

 

Tech Capabilities

  •     Establish, grow and maintain donor lists and data through the use of fundraising platform such as Raiser’s Edge and Monday.com
  •     Create queries and be able to import, export and analyze data for projects and events
  •     Generate timely thank you letters, project updates and regular fundraising requests to donors 
  •     Work with Marketing & Communications director to optimize fundraising opportunities through social media, website, and media outlets  

 
Desired Qualifications

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field and/or demonstrated experience in fundraising and development
  •     Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
  •     Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  •     Solid time management skills with the ability to work to project deadlines quickly and efficiently
  •     Experience working with Monday.com and Raiser’s Edge or similar donor and project management software
  •     Demonstrated experience developing and stewarding productive relationships with donors
  •     Familiarity with, and enthusiasm for trails and trail-based outdoor recreation pursuits a big plus
  •       Qualities such as friendliness, integrity, and humor highly valued
