Del grew up in Utah and developed a passion for the outdoors while hiking trails in Utah, from the desert landscapes of the south to the canyons and slopes of the Wasatch Mountains. He studied at Brown University and then attended the University of Utah College of Law. After seven years in private practice, Del joined the legal staff of The Williams Companies and represented its various subsidiaries in the Western United States and, for the years he lived in Tulsa, subsidiaries in other parts of the country. For the last 20 of his years with Williams he oversaw the Company’s lobbying efforts in a ten-state region in the West.
Del also serves on the board of Friends of Alta and as a representative of the Alta Community on the Stakeholders Council of the Central Wasatch Commission. He has served on the Boards and been Board Chair of Planned Parenthood of Utah, the Colorado Plateau Archeological Alliance, and the Utah Petroleum Association. He also served on the Board of the Utah Museum of Natural History. Del lives with his wife Mary in Salt Lake and has two daughters, Phoebe and Abby, who he can no longer keep up with when hiking or skiing.
