Development Director

Sarah Morton joined Trails Utah in June 2025 as Development Director, bringing more than a decade of experience in nonprofit fundraising, strategic planning, and organizational development.

Before joining Trails Utah, Sarah worked with Mighty Penguin, a nonprofit consulting firm that helps organizations build the strategies and systems needed to secure sustainable funding. Through this work, she supported a wide range of nonprofit clients with grant writing, campaign management, major gifts and corporate giving, board development, feasibility studies, and strategic planning. Sarah continues to consult with Mighty Penguin while supporting Trails Utah’s long-term development goals.

Sarah loves to hike and go on urban bike adventures with her two boys, ages 7 and 9. She also plays several instruments (alto saxophone, flute, violin and guitar) and performs any chance she can get. She graduated from the University of Utah in 2005 and holds a master’s degree in Urban Planning & Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
