Ferguson Canyon Section of BST

The Ferguson Canyon section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST) was completed in summer 2023 through a partnership between the U.S. Forest Service, Cottonwood Canyons Foundation, Trails Utah, volunteers, and project partners.

This half-mile trail connection links Ferguson Canyon to Big Cottonwood Canyon at the Dogwood Picnic Area, creating an important new segment of the BST along the Wasatch Front.

Trails Utah’s contractor, Nature Trails, completed the southern portion of the trail, while the U.S. Forest Service finalized the northern connection into Dogwood Picnic Area. Funding for the project was provided by the Central Wasatch Commission.

While relatively short in distance, this section represents an important step toward the long-term vision of connecting the Bonneville Shoreline Trail between Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons.

Projects like this help close critical gaps in the BST while improving close-to-home access to trails and open space for communities along the Wasatch Front.
