Each summer, Utah’s outdoors become the backdrop for a different kind of adventure—one that blends hiking, puzzle-solving, and a $20,000 cash prize!

On 7/30/25, Bank of Utah launched its third annual Where’s the Wallet Cash Quest, inviting the public to decode weekly clues and set off in search of a hidden wallet somewhere in the state’s public lands.

Whether you’re a seasoned riddle-solver or just looking for a reason to explore, this page has everything you need to get started.

What Is the "Where's the Wallet Cash Quest"?

The Cash Quest is a summer quest organized by Bank of Utah, now in its third year. A handcrafted leather wallet—provided by Stock & Barrel—has been hidden somewhere in Utah’s outdoors, and the first person to find it will win $10,000. In addition, they’ll choose a Utah-based nonprofit from this list of approved charities to receive another $10,000, donated in their name by the bank.

The 2025 Where’s the Wallet Cash Quest kicked off on July 30, with clues released via Bank of Utah’s Instagram, Facebook, and official clue page. This page will compile all publicly available clues, rules, and side quest updates to help participants stay on track throughout the hunt.

We’ll update this section as new clues are released on the official clue page. Here’s what’s live so far:

Clue 1

It’s time for our riddles, what a feast this shall be.
It’s got so much flavor to fill you with glee.
To begin, find the giants that bookend a city.
You’ll know you’re on track when it gets kind of grid-y.

*Pro tip: Visiting any Bank of Utah branch gives you early access to the decipher for the final clue (clue 6), a big advantage before it’s posted online. Just remember to keep that clue secret—it’ll go public later for everyone.

We’ll add Clues 2–5 here as they’re released. All side quest bonus clues will also be included once they’re made public.

Side Quests & Bonus Clues

In addition to the main cash quest, Bank of Utah is offering side quests throughout the 2025 Where’s the Wallet Cash Quest. These mini-challenges take the form of social media riddles, location-based tasks, or hidden piggy banks—each one unlocking bonus clues that can help narrow down the wallet’s location.

Side quest prizes go beyond extra hints: winners may also receive a handmade leather wallet from Stock & Barrel or a 2-night stay at Black Desert Resort in Southern Utah. It’s a way to stay engaged between clue drops—and maybe win something even if you don’t find the grand prize.

*Note: Side quest clues will eventually be shared on the official clue page so everyone can access them, but some prizes must be redeemed within a specific timeframe. Make sure to follow Bank of Utah on Instagram and Facebook to catch them in real time.
