The 7th Annual Utah Treasure Hunt

2026 updates, chatter, hints, and resources

2026 Utah Treasure Hunt Poem

  1. If it’s treasure you seek, here’s some friendly advice
  2. Begin your quest early, when the mornings are nice
  3. Glance to the west, use distant peaks as your guide
  4. They should look like the Rock with the moon on its side
  5. Walk through the dust that stands as a shield
  6. Yet when the storm blows, it refuses to yield
  7. Visit the stranger who once knelt to stone
  8. And climb where the wind is never alone
  9. If the phoenix’s order is one you’ve joined
  10. Follow the galleons that Hermione coined
  11. Wind through the trees where the trail is hard
  12. Until you meet the dragon and the fortune he guards
  13. Now, close to the prize, you can rest your shoulders
  14. And find the wooden chest amongst the boulders

The 2026 Utah Treasure Hunt Treasure Has Been Found!

On June 13th 2026, just 3 weeks after releasing the poem for the 7th Annual Utah Treasure Hunt, Bobby has found the treasure!

We’ll release more information on his solve as it comes in.

For now, huge congrats to Bobby, and a big thank you to John and Dave for all the work they put into these hunts. Thanks as well to Little America Hotel, GetOutPass, and The Coffee Shop for sponsoring the hunt and helping make it happen this year.

Until next year! 🪎

The 2026 Utah Treasure Hunt Official Hints

Email 1 Hints (June 05, 2026)

Hint 1

  • Treasure Map Boundaries (image to the right on desktop, below on mobile)

Hint 2

  • This year’s trail is tougher than last year’s, but still safe and doable for most hunters. Dave hiked it a few days after surgery, and there were plenty of families with young kids on the trail.

Hint 3

  • In line 11, the word hard is not describing the trail surface, like rock, wood, or asphalt. It means that section of the trail is a little tricky.

Email 2 Hints (June 12, 2026)

Hint 4

  • Don’t dismiss the first two lines of the poem. The advice to start early isn’t just about beating the heat, it’s a quiet nudge that significant sections of the trail are exposed to direct sun.

Hint 5

  • the “Rock” in the poem is the only thing referenced that’s outside this year’s hunt boundary. Also, it’s not a reference to Dwayne Johnson. We checked. He gave us a raised eyebrow when we asked him about being a clue.

Hint 6

  • In the 2nd to last line, the word shoulders was only used because it rhymes with boulders. There is no special meaning or significance.

While the fellas still have us waiting for the *first Cache Me Outside episode of the season, it seems they haven’t forgotten about us. They’ve been productive in other ways…

*btw, looks like they recorded episode 1 one June 10th, but ended up losing the audio for the episode. ugh.

Cache Me Outside: a treasure hunting podcast

Utah Treasure Hunt Cache Me Outside on-air hint

In preparation for episode 1, they’ve been putting AI to use in the best possible way by analyzing and categorizing every aspect of the previous poems.

We’ve included their breakdown below, though we recommend checking out their Instagram page to read all the comments and chatter regarding their analysis. You’ll find the post here.

And here’s their IG account, where they’ve made a few other posts thus far.

Note: the following graphic says the treasure has never been East of I-15, but we assume they meant West.

Here’s some more detective work they did for all of us to make our lives easier.

This is a map of all previous treasure locations.

You’ll find the post including all the chatter here.

Ready to jump down the Reddit rabbit hole?

While we can’t guarantee that any of these Reddit theories will be helpful to you, we can (almost) guarantee that you’ll be thoroughly entertained reading through them.

…I wonder how many depictions of peaks that look like The Rock we’ll see by the end of the hunt 😅

You’re a wizard, u/Nearby-Space-1055! But why aren’t my 10th anniversary collectors’ edition page numbers matching up…?

  • “Those two lines seem literal to me pointing to the part in Order of Phoenix where Hermione introduces the galleons they will use for the Dumbledore’s army meetings. Since they have used a lot of measurements in the past, it makes sense to me that 519 (book 5 chapter 19) or 398 (the page number) are numbers we will need. 398 seems most likely because the introduction of those galleons starts and almost completely ends on page 398.” – u/Nearby-Space-1055

 Interesting theory here by u/tobycatgreybar

  •  Rock with moon 2nd week (see following image)
    • Comments: “”Phoenix’s Order.” Farmington High mascot is the Phoenix. My search guess is the Farmington Canyon area. I have some ideas, but nothing concrete.” u/sector_compass4774
    • You know what’s odd about this? A dragon can also be called “colossal”….

u/Da_ha3ker has had enough and provided his solve. While we have no idea if it’s close or not, but we do know how wild confirmation bias can get once a theory starts clicking.

  • “There’s a restroom with a bunch of pavilions and rocks right next to the “belly” of the dragon. The coyote hollow trailhead has a great view of distant peaks, copper mines, etc, the historic silica pit looks like a shield, the memorial cove has a stone monument of someone who passed away. it connects with ghost falls trail where the ghosts are in the air, and winds back and forth in switchbacks in dense trees and gets pretty tough. Then you get to the trailhead, where you see the belly of the dragon. Thought I’d share where I got stumped, don’t think I will do any more searching, so hopefully this helps someone. Good luck. If this does help I would appreciate a cut, but I know this is reddit so the chances of anything is slim.”

Little America Hotel, the GetOutPass, and The Coffee Shop are all sponsors of the 2026 Utah Treasure Hunt.

And, according to this IG story posted by @the.cline.fam on 6/7/26, the sponsors could be posting hints throughout this year’s hunt.

We imagine these will be similar to the video hint reveals from Element United and First Class Fireplace a few years back.

If so, we recommend following the sponsor IG accounts to catch all the latest hints. Here they are:

general chatter

A few things to remember

  • Treat the trail with care. Stay on route, pack out trash, leave plants and rocks where they are, and be respectful of the places you visit while searching.
  • The hunt is free. Anyone can follow the poem, study the clues, and head out to search.
  • The treasure was placed with safety in mind. You’ll follow a trail almost the entire way, and the final step off trail does not require rock climbing, mountain goating, bushwhacking, digging, or dangerous terrain. Cell service should be available the whole time.
  • Come prepared for summer. Bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and take the heat seriously.
  • Keep an eye out for wildlife. Rattlesnakes have been spotted during past hunts, so stay aware of your surroundings.
  • Be patient with the poem. The clues are meant to be tricky, subjective, and easy to overthink. Take your time, stay safe, and enjoy the search.
